PROJECT 2

For project 2 we had to choose one song from the list below, appreciate the song, hear it through and understand the lyrics. We were also required to sketch initial ideas, figure out a story line, illustrate and animate 'moments' base of our understanding from the chosen song. These are the songs listed below:

1. Fly me to the moon
2. The way you look tonight
3. Come fly with me
4. Girl from Ipanema
5. New York, New York

I then proceeded to YouTube to get myself familiar with all the songs. After a few days, listening to the songs on repeat I decided to choose the song "The way you look tonight" by Frank Sinatra, it was the song that I kept on going back to whilst getting a lot of ideas coming into my head. Moreover, I went over the lyrics again and again and came up with an idea about a couple fighting and making up. Thus in the song, to my interpretation he  mentioned that he did not want her to change but he will cherish the moments and memories he had with her. Furthermore, I also did a little bit of research before sketching it out and finalising my idea. I told my idea to Mr Hafiz but he said it did not intrigued him enough so I came up with another idea where it was about food. Here are my initial sketches/brainstorming for both ideas:

Then I proceeded to sketch my second idea which was about food.

I went on to digitalised my idea in Adobe Illustrator.

Mr Hafiz told me that I did not have very good composition overall thus the girl in the frame makes it seem like she is dead. He told me to draw her in a kitchen where the melon pan and the guy was looking at her like this:

After the feedback from Mr Hafiz I started sketching another scene but using the same idea as before. These are my updated sketches:

I then proceeded to digitised it in Adobe Illustrator. I started with the first scene which was the kitchen.

Then I added the table guy and chef lady.

Lastly, the third and final scene.

After that I moved on to adding colour.

I then decided that the silhouette and the bun on the plate looked weird so I put it back to its original colour and also using darker colours.
